Men who take medication to reduce hair loss may have the side effect of reducing their levels of P.S.A., which is a marker for prostate cancer. Although it lowers the P.S.A., it does not lower the risk of cancer. Unfortunately, it can mislead a doctor into concluding that a patient’s risk is lower than it really is.
